News Corp in Mideast drive (FT)

Abu Dhabi, UAE - News Corp has struck its second deal in the Middle East in as many weeks, forming a partnership in Abu Dhabi on the eve of an event that is intended to attract more international media investment and expertise to the emirate. Rupert Murdoch's media and entertainment conglomerate said before the opening of the Abu Dhabi Media Summit today it planned a regional hub for .Fox, its online advertising network, in Abu Dhabi. It also means to open a documentary production office there, and to move operations of some channels in the region to Abu Dhabi's recently opened broadcasting facility.

The deals were struck by Fox International Channels, a News Corp subsidiary, with twofour54, a government-sponsored initiative focused on establishing Abu Dhabi as a centre for Arabic content creation. They follow News Corp's investment in Rotana, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal's Saudi-based television, music and digital media group.
